The Perfect You Excerpt
One more step.
A sharp blow landed against Trinity’s head, pain ricocheting across her skull. Dazed, confused, she spun. Two men, dressed entirely in black and masks, stood on the level above her, only their eyes and mouths visible. Fear engulfed her, and Trinity kicked one of the men in the shin, elbowed the second in the stomach. Both men yelled at her as Trinity turned and leaped down a level. Sirens and screams sounded in her mind, the intentions of the masked men circling around her heart. Robbery, rape, murder. Whatever their motive, she wouldn’t give in easily. She’d fight with her last …
Something slammed into Trinity’s back and she pitched forward, down another step, face scraping across the concrete. She gasped for air, fought to maintain focus. Where were Grey and Kellen? A kick in the gut left her gasping for air as Trinity lifted her head, struggled to push herself to feet, to fight back. “Help!” she screamed, the word falling short of the passion Trinity intended. She rose to one knee, swinging wildly at the men, praying to hit something vital and slow the assault.
A steel-toed boot stomped hard against Trinity’s leg, and she screamed, the pain exquisite. The realization that she didn’t stand a chance against the men stabbed at her. Trinity pushed an arm forward. Even if it meant she had to crawl out…
The thought faded as another kick landed against Trinity’s cheek, the tunnel closing as blackness found her.
